Este mes de diciembre se anunciaron los ganadores del Travel Photographer of the Year. Este artículo del The Times nos da más detalles.
El ganador de este año ha sido la fotógrafa británica Cat Vinton:
“The judges were drawn to her clean, crisp imagery. The first portfolio, shot in Norway, brings a fashion feel to the travel theme and is beautiful in its simplicity. The second portfolio documents the story of an important event in Nomadic family life; packing up home to move on.”
En la categoría ‘New Talent’ el ganador ha sido Charlie Mahoney, un joven fotógrafo americano que reside en la ciudad de Barcelona.
“Amongst many good entries in this category, Charlie Mahoney’s portfolio stood out. His attempts to work with light, perspective, viewpoint, movement, shape and form are commendable and he shows great potential to be able to take the leap to a successful photographic career”
Enhorabuena a los premiados.
Para los amantes de la buena fotografía de viajes hay un blog muy recomendable. “The Travel Photographer“. Un imprescindible por Tewfic El-Sawy. Después de publicar y comentar mucha fotografía documental y de viajes, Shiho Fukada merecería recibir un premio como “TTP’s Photo of the Year”.
Shiho Fukada’s photograph of a made-up Indian dancer…possibly a Kathakali or Yakshagana performer. The former is a dance of Kerala, while the latter is of Karnataka. The richness of the colors and the judicious use of shadows in this photograph have so impressed me that I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time just looking at it…trying to burn it in my visual memory in the event that I come across a similar situation.
